ROOFING CEREMONY

FOR THE SCHWALBE HYBRID BUILDING

Nine months after the start of construction, Ralf Bohle GmbH celebrated the roofing ceremony of its hybrid building on April the 5th. Once completed, the building will reflect the company's values in its architecture and construction methods - for example, recyclable materials will be used wherever possible.

ROOM FOR GROWTH AND INNOVATION

The new Schwalbe heart at the company's headquarters in Reichshof-Wehnrath (North Rhine-Westphalia) will be a space for growth and innovation, for the modern working environment as well as for an appropriate presentation of the globally successful brand. While the exterior impresses with the straightforwardness of the recyclable Alucobond cladding, the materials used inside - including rubber wood, exposed concrete, and lots of planting - are much more multi-layered.

By the time of the roofing ceremony on April 5th, the shell of the building had already taken impressive shape: "With the completion of the ceiling above the third floor and the elevations, the structural work was completed in February 2019. Currently, the window systems are being installed to close the building. In parallel, roof sealing work has begun," reports planner Ralf Janz, Architektur + Design, Wiehl, on the current state.

Completion of the building is scheduled for 2020. "Then the Hybrid Building will complete our various building sections into a rounded whole and impressively reflect our corporate values in visual terms. Technical dynamism, human creativity and responsible use of resources," is how Frank Bohle, managing partner of Ralf Bohle GmbH, summarizes the concept. As far as possible, the sustainable construction method was inspired by the cradle-to-cradle principle, according to which only materials are used that can be recycled at the end of their use.

Investment in the future

Since Schwalbe completed its headquarters in Reichshof-Wehnrath in 1995, the company has grown strongly in Germany and internationally. While sales multiplied from 30 million at the time to 187 million euros in 2018, the number of employees at the site rose from 60 to around 150. "The new building, in which we are investing more than 17 million euros, is intended to provide our current and future employees with an attractive workplace, represent our brand - and make room for further capacity," explains Frank Bohle.
