51,852 KM HOUR WORLD RECORD! MATTHIAS BRÄNDLE RUNS SCHWALBE ONE HT

On October 30, 2014 Matthias Brandle set a new UCI hour record in the Velodrome in Aigle, Switzerland. The 24-year old Austrian from the IAM Cycling team rode his furious record ride with the tire that he and his team have trusted all season – Schwalbe ONE.

Of course for the track normal tires were not used but instead a special design of the ONE HT. HT stands for Handmade Tubular. These tubular tires are piece by piece unique. They are made in a separate part of the Schwalbe factory. All components of the carcass down to the last stitch are created here - the proportion of manual work is as great as any other tire.

His record run was in front of around 900 fans and it was the young time trialists first real competition in a velodrome: "Even if I had a good start and the first 35 minutes was scheduled to go, I had to then rather suffer and had to fight with cramps in the thighs. It was very hot in the Velodrome and I was not able to drink, but I never panicked. "
