Ultremo 'DD' HS 380

The top competition tire with all around protection. As well as
the HD Ceramic belt it is also protected by a complete SnakeSkin
fabric. This additional protection works particularly well on the
shoulders and side walls. Cuts by glass shards, or sharp flints are
effectively repelled. Weight and rolling resistance remain low.
Naturally with Triple Nano Compound.

Ultremo DDs

Just replaced my Ultemo DD's after 4,000km of riding, most of which was done during a wet Vancouver winter. Although I wouldn't necessarily recommend stretching their use over this many kms, especially winter ones, I'm pleased to report that I didn't have a single flat over the life of the tires. I don't believe I can say that about any other tire I have ever used in over 25 years of riding.

I LOVE my Ultremo DDs!!!

This is one of the best tires I've found for winter training. With all the sand, crap, & glass on the roads these days the ONLY flat I've had in 3 seasons was due to a fine needle puncture, that needless to say, was unavoidable for ANY tire out there.

Our entire team is very happy to have Schwalbe as a sponsor.

Thanks Schwalbe,

Ultremo DD Tires

Hi Folks,

The Ultremo DD tires are due to be back in stock at the end of December in fairly limited quantities. We then have another shipment that we are anticipating for mid January. The January order has not been confirmed from the factory, so the quantities at this point are unknown. If you need a set, I would highly suggest a pre-order through your local bike shop as they will get first whack at whatever supplies we receive.

They are only available in black, and we do not anticipate additional colors being available.

skin colors

Are there any other colors other than black skin? Would love to have yellow skin

US Availability?

Does anyone have the 700x25 in stock in the US? When will they again be distributed?

Tubular!

I love these in the clincher, although the 25c can be tough to get a hand on. Please, please, please make these in a tubular. I need a tire I can race on and not worry about sidewall cuts.

Ultremo 25 Actual size on rim?

Are the Ultremo 'DD' 700 x 25C true to size on the rim or is actual size slightly bigger or smaller?

AVAILABILITY

Hi

Ulremo DD is not available here in Europe. is it just temporary status?

Cheers, Martin.

349s

Is there ever going to be a 349 for us trike riders? We are becoming a pretty good size market these days.

Ultremo DD/25 Load

It appears that the maximum recommended load for this tire is approximately 58 kilos. is this correct?

DD vs Ultremo R

Are the DD way better on puncture resistance and how much slower from rolling resistance and weight? Would it be noticeable?

Need to decide between the two and not much info on Ultremo R

DD vs Ultremo R

The tire is identical except for the snakeskin built into the carcass of the DD. Because of the snakeskin, it is a bit heavier but I seriously doubt that you'd notice the difference in rolling resistance.

As far as additional puncture protection, the biggest difference will be in sidewall protection. The snakeskin makes the sidewalls more durable and less likely to fall victim to the "sidewall bite" where you run over an object (usually a sharp rock or piece of gravel) that bites a chunk out of your tire, usually ruining the tire.

I have a friend who races Cat. 1 and is using a pair of the DDs for the early season races. He's very particular about his equipment, and so far he loves these tires. I'd also like to note that he bought these tires on his own, without any prodding (or deals) from me, so his praise was nice to hear.

Comparing the R vs the DD

If it is identical, why is the TPI only 67 on the DD and 127 on the R. Does the The Snake Skin have something for the that difference?
Also the German site says you can inflate the DD to 145 max and US is 115. Is that a typo?

67 TPI?

TPI is only 67? is it a misprint? Can we get a confirmation on this?

This is not a misprint

The casing used in all high-end Schwalbe Road, as well as MTB tires is a 67 EPI casing. This casing offers the best compromise between low weight, durability, rolling resistance and puncture resistance.
Only the ULTREMO R as a specific high-end racing tire is made with an even finer 127 EPI casing material. This makes for a more sublet but also more fragile tire.

I have had an ultremo on my

I have had an ultremo on my back tire for about 3 months, maybe 1,000 miles. I weigh about 240. I commute about 13 miles in some pretty bad road- glass, pieces of bumpers, tons of rocks. There was a bad brush fire along one patch of road resulting in burnt pieces of branches and crap on the road for at least a week. This week, about a mile of black top was ripped up in preparation of new black top, and it was pretty rough going.... no flat, though. No problem!!! It already has shown some considerable wear, but it also has a ton of small holes in them from the various stuff that would have probably ripped open an average tire. There's even a small staple embedded in the tire- I figure I should just leave it there.

I'll come back when the tire totally dies and give my impression. I am not experienced enough to compare rolling resistance. My concern is for a near bullet proof tire and this provides that.
