“The fastest Marathon ever”

New for 2006 is the Marathon Racer from Schwalbe; designed for Touring, City and Fitness cyclists who have a need for speed. A racing tread and a new puncture protection belt – Raceguard - make it both fast and safe.

Schwalbe conceived the youngest member of its legendary Marathon family as a light, sporty, folding tire (330 gram in size 700 x 30C, 30-622) for riders who enjoy to travel quickly around the city. “Bike couriers and city cyclists will enjoy the fast acceleration - for example between traffic lights – as the low weight is tangible”, said product manager Carsten Zahn of maker Schwalbe (Reichshof Wehnrath), the European market leader in bicycle tires.

In order to make the new touring tyres so incredibly fast, Schwalbe gave it a rubber tread compound from its racing cycle tyre range. The extremely easy rolling and flexible Speedgrip Compound has very low rolling resistance that is further enhanced by the flexible skin side wall. Carsten Zahn remarked pointedly: “The Marathon Racer is the fastest Marathon ever”.

The Raceguard puncture protection also comes from the racing cycle tire range. It is a protection belt made from india rubber and nylon fabric that protects well against penetration punctures and has only a minimal affect on weight and rolling resistance.
