Kojak HS 385
Who loves ya, baby? Kojak makes no compromises. Its home is the road. Although the fast, sporty, tread-less slick weighs just 295 gram, it still has a RaceGuard protection belt.

Customers New Size Demanded
I own a LBS and customers are demanding and emailing me for a Slick Kojack that 700x40 or 700x45.
They want the Slick tire look but want something Wider more comfortable and fast just like the Kojak with Puncture protection and Very low Rolling restsiance.
Right now I am ordering weekly 2 to sets of Continental Sport Contacts 700x37.
If Schwalabe had Kojaks in 700x40 That what would be selling. In folding or wire bead.
Suitable tube
Anyone have any idea what tube would fit/match the 2011 model 18" x 1.25" Kojak 32-355? I'm having trouble finding one.
# 4 tube
Hi,
If you look towards the right side of the tire chart, the third column from the end will say "Tube", and below that will list the tube numbers which work for the specific size tire.
For the 18 x 1.25 / 32-355 Kojak tire, you would need to use the # 4 tube, which we have available in either Presta, or Auto/Schraeder valve.
Thanks!
New offerings ?
are there any new sizes being prepared in the Kojak ?
I want these in 650c size so
I want these in 650c size so bad I can taste it....451 would be nice too.
650x40b would be great too -
650x40b would be great too - the ultimate rando tire.
Please ADD Reflective Strips
I use the 18" Kojak tires on my Strida, LOVE them!
But having reflective strips would make my late night or early morning excursions at least feel a little safer.
No Tread
Are the Kojak tires Marathon Racers without the tread?
definitely NOT!
definitely NOT!
305
hi,
I'm running 4 small wheeled bikes and realized that 305 wheelers virtually have no choices for fast tires unlike any other sizes.
The fastest tires are Primo comet, which was originally designed for BMX (85 psi 1.35) followed by Marathon racers.
I wish Schwalbe noticed this and release fast, high pressure, and light tires like Durano or Kojak.
Thanks
451 please
Like many, I have a 451-wheeled bike. I race on mine and have been relying on the excellent stelvios up until now. The replacement duranos are a lot slower.
There are a lot of bikes out there with 451 wheels. All the racier Bike Fridays, the Pacific Reach. Don't deny us decent rubber!
The kojak is a fantastic tyres, the larger volumne is a real bonus for small wheels, and is much more efficient than the durano.
Please make these in 451
Pros & Cons
Put new set of Kojak 349's on my Catrike Speed:
Pros: Mounted very true, ran very smooth.
Cons: Lost 2 mph, did not last as long as Stelvios.
Whats the difference between
Whats the difference between Qualifier and SpeedGrip?
dear SCHWALBE-team, whats the
dear SCHWALBE-team,
whats the pros and cons of these two different compounds?
thanks for response!
451 again
I just put my new Catrike 700 on the road with Kojaks on all three wheels. It rides like it has full suspension. Those tires are fast and comfortable. Now I want a 451 for my Speed's rear wheel even more. Once again, please, produce a 451, 32 to 37 wide.
Super fast.......
Super fast and smooth rolling. Keep the 18X1.25's maxed to 8bar and let gravity do the work. Thanks Schwalbe for some great skins. http://www.flickr.com/photos/35561616@N03/3733640716/
451 Kojak
I really like 32-349 Kojaks on the front of my trike and would really like a 451 for the back ! Please ?
How about offering these in 35-305 for Strida riders???
I would LOVE it if you would consider offering these tires in the 35-305 size for Strida riders like me (and thousands of others around the globe)!
Right now I'm using Primo Comet Kevlars in this size but I'd rather use your tires.
More tires in the 305 size, in general, would be awesome!
Thanks!
29er
Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, make this in a 29x2. Why should road bikes get the best tire? Mtn bike set up for the road and all I need is a set of Kojaks on it. Smooooooooth riding. Will be a test subject for ya and pay for the tires as well.
kojak tires
would like to see the kojaks come in a 50x406 size. you have a 26x2.00, why not a 20x2.00 ??
451 please
Please, Please, Please, give us this tire in a 451.
Recumbents Taiwan
As a recumbent manufacturer in Taiwan we think that it is great Schwalbe has dedicated engineering and expenses to so may small wheel tires. Although more 349 and 451 sized quality tires would allow manufacturers more design freedom.
For years we have wanted to produce lowracer with 451 wheel but with an absence of a quality selection of tires in this size we have not yet done so.
Both Our American and Taiwan design teams urge Schwalbe to continue supporting recumbent tires and to provide more quality race tires in 349,406, and 451 sizes. A 451 Ultremo would be the ultimate recumbent tire.
Christine,

urban cornering
this tyre needs to come in a 2.5 width (with a softer compound) to improve on the Maxxis Hookworm for radical urban cornering action - people want a light and fast tyre (not a typical heavy urban tyre) that can be used for super aggressive lean angles
thanx
next generation KOJAK
The Kojak should be developed with the Magic Compound used in the Marathon Supreme so that it is light and fast with superior grip. Keep the weight down and the grip levels up for aggressive on road cornering.
touring?
will the Kojak (26 x 2.0) be good as a fast and light tyre for touring on sealed roads? what about unsealed roads?
is the extra speed worth more than slightly less puncture protection?
do you recommend this tyre for touring or should i be looking at a Marathon Supreme (in the same width)?
Rolling Resistance
I have heard that between two tyres of the same pressure and outer diameter (and slick tread profile), the tyre with the higher volume (ie greater width) will have lower rolling resistance. Is this the case at all tyre pressures (eg 60 psi as well as 100psi)?
Assuming equal outer tyre diameter and tread, is the only thing that makes a narrower high pressure tyre (eg 700 x 25c) faster than a fatter high pressure tyre (eg 26 x 2.0), the extra weight (say 200g) of the fatter tyre? Can one say that the rolling resistance is the same but the fatter high pressure slick tyre will be slower because it has greater rotational inertia?
It seems these issues stump a lot of people.
On Road Cornering Grip
Which has the best cornering grip on (DRY and wet) asphalt between the Kojak and the Marathon Supreme (both in 26 x 2.0 sizes)?
What is the compound durometer of each tyre? (Calling it Speedgrip does not help in comparisons with other tyres)
Thank you in anticipation for helping in my tyre selection.
Supreme grips better
The Marathon Supreme will have better cornering grip in both wet and dry conditions due to the Triple Nano rubber compound that is used. The Triple Nano rubber compound uses three different compounds with a softer one on the shoulder of the tire to provide the best wet and overall cornering grip. The Speedgrip is a harder multilevel Dual Compound which is great for dry asphalt but won't have the same wet grip as the Supreme.
For the best grip on ashphalt in both dry and wet the Marathon Supreme will be the best choice.
Thanks,
Team Schwalbe
On Road Cornering Grip
wet or dry a slick tyre will grip better. the footprint of a bicycle tyre is shaped like a canoe, so surface water is "ploughed" out of the way and will not cause aquaplaning unless travelling at extreme speeds on flooded roads. Car tyres on the other hand present a footprint that is more or less square so it is necessary to have channels to allow water to escape. Tyre treads are unneccessary for bicycles on asphalt, providing psychological reassurance but increasing drag. Surface roughness and small stones are absorbed by the the ability of the rubber and the air-cushion of pneumatic tyres to deform as the tyre rolls over them. On soft surfaces a knobbly tyre is necessary to dig into the surface preventing wheelspins.
Feb 2009 and 32-369 Kojaks still listed as out
Any word when 17 inch 369 tires will be available. My thirty year old Wolber Super Slicks are about to file for divorce.
32-369 Kojaks
The Kojak 17 x 1 1/4 (32-369) will be arriving around March 5th.
Thanks,
Team Schwalbe
32-369 Kojaks
Only 17 x 1 1/4.... Many people want 17 x 1 1/8....
Difference in compound?
Seems that the Qualifier compound will be replaced by the SpeedGrip Compound ?
Difference between those types? SpeedGrip better grip at low temp?
From http://lifeonabaron.blogspot.com/2007/11/word-about-tires.html :
""2 months ago I changed to Schwabe Kojak slicks which worked well until last week when the temperature dropped. This oddly enough caused the front tire feel strange on some areas of my route almost to the point of losing control, switching to the Primo Kevlar solved this but I've never seen a tire do that before."
Hans from cold Amsterdam(NL) Around freezing point
Lifeonabaron replies
I did write that a couple of years ago however now I'm not sure if it was somehow me and not the tire, I currently have Kojaks back on my Baron again without those problems I had in 2007
Tire Availability
When will the new folding tire sizes be available for purchase? I am specifically looking for the 50-559 folding.
Folding 559 discontinued?
Disappointed to see the 559 size no longer available with a folding bead. I've put over 2000 miles a pair on my high-racer recumbent without a flat. These tires are great!
PS. It's fabulous to see a folding tire for Moultons (369)!
Folding 559 discontinued?
35-559 and 50-559 folding sizes are NOT discontinued.
Team Schwalbe
How about getting some in
How about getting some in stock then? 50-559 specifically.
Width
A data point for Kojak fans: I just mounted a set of Kojak 26 X 2.0 on some wide rims (32.4 mm) and their measured width is 46.4mm (closer to 1.75").
451
when will there be more tires like these in 451 size?
451 Kojak Availability
As posted above, is there any intention to provide Kojaks in 451? I tried a Durano, and quite honestly, compared to the Stelvios, they suck hard. I like the 406 Kojaks, but I'm not switching out all my 451 wheels for 406. Without a good 451 offered by you guys anymore, you leave riders with the choice of going to another brand for their tires. Everything I ride has Stelvios, until the 451's wear out . . .
Kojak on a tandem?
I have a tandem with 26 in. wheels and have been using the Marathon Racers 26 X 1.5. The Marathon Racers have been great tires; durable, very few flats, and long wearing. I am thinking that the Kojak would roll faster without tread and the 26 X 1.3 would be lighter. Will the Kojaks work on a tandem and would they be faster than the Marathon Racers?
Thank you,
Sheldon
16"
It's too bad it isn't available in a 349 (16")! Everyone who has 20" wheels love these kojaks, I want them for my 16" wheel
New Kojak Sizes
A 32-349 Kojak will be available by the end of November 2008.
In addition, there will be more new sizes offered at that time:
32-355, 32-369, 50-559, 35-622.
Thank you,
Team Schwalbe
New Kojak sizes
Team Schwalbe; what about 32-507
507 tires please
I have looked hi and low for narrow 507 tires. It would be great to be able to get some Shwalbe's in at 32-507 or even thinner. Vee Rubber (Thailand) has them but I can not find anyone on North America who carries them.
32-507
I would also buy a 32-507 in a road tire. Any road tire. Vee Rubber is the only alternative that I am aware of
Recumbent
Size 507 is the future of recumbents bicycles :)
I would also buy that size Duranos if possible.
Swift & Sweet!
Oh man, these tires are awesome, today was the first time i rode them on a hard rain, with plenty of big lake like puddles on the road, and it rode past them like it was not there.
cornering was not bad at all, being racing tires, i was afraid to flat out on cornering too quickly, but nope, it took it just like normal road.
I was really surprised how well it handled the rain today.
if they could only make them FATTER like the Big Apples, then it'll be the best of both world.
the thin Kojak, have been causing me a lot of problems in my roads, there are too many parts with cracks that are exactly wide enough for it to sink in and cause an accident, i was lucky to have been able to come out unscratched from many of them.
Reason why for as much i like to ride on these babies, they are too narrow for the roads i commute on, i need something big and fat so it can go over those damn cracks, and not get stuck inside them.
kojak hs-385
Too bad this isn't available in 32 mm width.
